~Frequently Asked Questions~
Q: Why VerseVarmint? What’s in that name?
A: It took longer than it should have to settle on the name for our zine! Many obscure, rebellious historical figures and interesting symbols were researched (and deemed not quite right). In the end, we thought, “What better than the sometimes unloved, unwanted, and misunderstood creatures of the world to represent our struggling writers?”
Q: Will you accept and publish all submissions?
A: No. Like any other publication, we reserve the right to decline work that does not align with the values and spirit of VerseVarmint. Read the guidelines carefully!
Q: Is there a submission fee?
A: No!
Q: Is a print version of the zine available?
A: Not yet. But our goal is to offer print copies of VerseVarmint eventually.
Q: Do you check for AI-generated content?
A: Yes. Although we place trust in our potential writers, we want to ensure that credit is given where it is due. As stated in our submission guidelines, we will be checking for AI-generated content and plagiarism.
Q: Why is there a blog post by a published author? Isn’t this a space for struggling writers?
A: We grappled with this question ourselves! At the end of the day, the zine belongs to our beloved varmints. The blog, on the other paw, exists to enrich, inform, and entertain. Our guest contributors offer experience and wisdom (think Nicodemus of Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH – or does that date us too much?).
