About VerseVarmint

Mission Statement

VerseVarmint was born to chew up rejection and gnaw out a home for writers struggling to get published.

Feed us words!

Mission Statement Plus

While we acknowledge that Rejection is part of the game, VerseVarmint knows from experience that too many rejection letters start to bite, to hurt, and fill us with doubt.

The “verse” in our name needs no explanation; the “varmint” invokes the sometimes unloved, unwanted, and misunderstood creatures of the world to represent our struggling writers and their words. We are a literary zine dedicated to offering respite to those on the verge of giving up. We see you, and we love what you bring to the party!

Meet The Team

K.Mikolajek
Editor-in-Chief,
Founder of VerseVarmint

What to say about K.Mikolajek? The usual info, we guess: a lifelong love/hate affair with writing, BA in Creative Writing and English (special focus on Poetry), two kids, a couple of cats, blah, blah, blah… But who is K.Mikolajek? We are still trying to figure that out ourselves. Today, K. Mikolajek is the person dancing around the fire, smearing mud on her face and clawing at the star-dusted night sky, trying to expose something more while thinking about nothing and everything all at once… Well, that’s who she thinks she is when writing. Just smile and back away – but not before letting her give your writing the home it deserves.
